The Real Problem with This Election

I know there's a lot of really ugly campaigning going on and I can hardly bear to look at Facebook for fear of what acrimony I will find there, but really all that stuff pales before the lack of alphabetical diversity on the Republican front. I don't know how much longer I can bear a party that includes Paul Ryan, Ron Paul, and Rand Paul and talks a lot about Ayn Rand. I never thought I would be so thankful for the name Mitch, which I don't particularly care for but which doesn't contain even a single a, r, or n, or anything that approaches the name Paul. Romney, on the other hand, offends on a few fronts, but at least has a different sort of sound, although it comes perilously close to Ron.

  1. Not a total Rand fan, but not offended by everything she wrote, either. I can like John Holt's thoughts on education, but ignore his inane one world gov't rants, and I can like Charlotte Mason's outdoor ed. regimen without sharing her admiration for Rousseau. Rand was a creepy nut, but a pretty keen observer of the problems of socialism. I can see why Ryan might find something of interest in her writings, especially as a young man eager to find fault with socialism.
And then, there's L. Ron Hubbard...there's a Ron with followers we can have fun with.

  2. Yes, but we can discuss politics and philosophy anywhere. Here it's all phonics.

Although the Hubbard phenomenon is rather intriguing. It must have something to do with his mother's cupboard always being bare. That and the fact that she obviously cared more about the dog than she did about him.

  4. All these Rs do give the Republicans a nice slogan: "What this country needs is some R&R!"

  5. That is a slogan that could definitely get my attention.
