In December of 2012, the first Advent of this blog, I wrote
this post about Caryll Houselander's
The Reed of God. While I was not very successful in writing about it that year, I have read some part of the book every Advent since, and this year, I thought I would try something different. As you can tell from the title of the post, I hope to have a discussion of the book during Advent. I'll post something every Sunday, and we can discuss it during the week. I'll divide the book into four sections and write a post about that week's section on Sunday and we can discuss it during the week.
I know this is a bit early, but I wanted to give everyone that was interested time to get the book if they don't already have it. I'm hoping it will provide a quiet little moment of reflection in all the craziness of the month. Some of my friends in my book club have said they would be interested, so I'm hoping it will work. Any amount of participation will be fine.

Looking forward to this.
ReplyDeleteThis is partly the comment test that you asked for, and partly a reply to the post. I can't make any promises about participating, but will try to. I have the book and I know I've read some of it, but am actually not sure whether I ever finished it or not.
ReplyDeleteComment worked as usual for me. But I wasn't having a problem before, as long as I was doing it on my computer, which I usually am. I'll try it on the phone sometime but I rarely comment that way anyway
ReplyDeleteI wonder if phones could be part of the problem. Grumpy frequently uses her phone.

Just tried it on the phone. I could enter the comment, select Name/URL for my identity. But when I clicked Preview the text of the comment disappeared. Same if I clicked Publish rather than Preview after entering the text.
DeleteThanks for your help. I appreciate it, or, as they say around here, I 'preciate cha.

I'm pretty sure I have that book somewhere too.
ReplyDeleteI see you can still comment. That's hopeful.
DeleteLook for it! ;-)

I'd really like to take part in this, Janet, but I'm honestly not sure I'll be able to get the readings (reedings?) done. Nonetheless, I will order the book.
ReplyDeleteHmm... what book should I order with it in order to get free shipping? Decisions, decisions...
Well, even if you only read a page or two, it will probably have lots of good stuff on it.
